Heinz Neumärker (1935-2017)

Born in Breslau, his family settled in Leverkusen in 1950. He married in 1963 and passed away in his adoptet home in 2017. His passion for the circus, as he himself stated, stemmed from an experience when, at the age of 7, he was able dot witness the circus tent city of Circus Busch next to to the Centennial Hall in Breslau, along with the zoo. This trio of influences never left him throughout his life. in addition to a vast collection of circus photography, he also creatied many photos in zoos.

His role as a senior employee at the city's largest employer allowed him, in addition, to pursue the unique photgraphic project of circus photography over 50 years as a freelance image creator. His photographic approach aimed to create an all-encompassing view that shows the circus in all its facets, almost bringing that past era back to life. Wide shot, close-ups, and candid moments were part of his repertiore, always with a loving dedication to his subject.
